OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
The Survey Assistant is to assist surveyors in providing the controls and guidance for the progress of day-to-day mine planning design and layout to inform delivery of the quarterly plan.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
Comply with AGAG Environmental Management, compliance and other legal requirements.
Take action to prevent environmental pollution.
Comply and follow the operating procedures and environmental rules for the performance of the assigned job.
Correct, or report to their Supervisor, any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions as well make suggestions to improve any aspect of environmental management.
Commissioning and handover of instrumentation, associated control, networking and cabling systems to also comply to the requirements of AGAG’s Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
Assist in maintaining safety and integrity of the Process Control NetworkFollow the established procedures if incident occur by reporting to the Supervisor
Demonstrate Safety Leadership and contribute to improving the Culture within the team for Safety, Health, Environment and Sustainable Development.
Manage own development activities to capably deliver accountabilities and outputs and as development needs and plans are established.
Contribute to a culture of Accountability and continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain constructive relationships with Stakeholders to collaboratively and effectively deliver the annual plan.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
BSc Geodetic/Geomatic Engineering
Experience
Minimum two years’ proven experience in mine surveying preferably with at least one year in an underground mining environment.
Knowledge & Skills
Experience in Survey functional Management.
Demonstrate knowledge in the mining operations value chain.
Demonstrated capacity to interpret data and successfully action sound tactical decisions • Commercial acumen relevant to the role.
Familiarity with Survey Software Safety (Advanced Application): Can identify and interpret safety risks and resolve emerging issues; and ensuring that appropriate focus and resources are available to achieve safety objectives.
MTS Processes & Practices (Advanced Application):
Understands key underground mining processes and has demonstrated the ability to apply it in optimising performance.
Knows when to engage Specialist’s support.
Understanding of good survey practices, management, support systems, and how each should interact to deliver targeted performance.
Able to manage performance based on interpretation of data and can initiate and drive the operational improvements as required.
