Job Description

As our Materials Management Advisor, you will play an important role in ensuring that materials move securely and reliably from suppliers to our sites and then onward to the teams who depend on them. This role sits at the heart of our warehousing and inbound logistics activities, and your insights will directly shape how we optimise service, reduce operational risk, and strengthen the physical supply chain across the region.
What you will do
In this role, you will focus on delivering safe and effective warehousing and inbound logistics operations by ing strong technical knowledge, practical experience, and collaborative leadership. You will help us translate operational needs into clear standards, strengthen our common processes, and support continuous improvement across the region.
You will partner closely with warehousing providers, freight forwarders, internal collaborators, and the broader Materials Management community to ensure our service partners operate safely, align with requirements, and consistently meet performance expectations. You will also play a key part in developing strategies that support cost efficiency, operational rigor, and compliance with bp’s OMS framework.
Your responsibilities will include:
Owning the development and implementation of regional standards for warehousing and inbound logistics, ensuring they are aligned with bp requirements and support a strong safety culture.
Demonstrating leadership in HSE performance and ensuring all activities meet bp’s regulatory and safety expectations.
Ensuring compliance with bp’s Materials Management common processes, along with all policies and procedures related to warehousing operations.
Maintaining safe custody, preservation, and secure handling of all materials in storage and in transit.
Providing input into annual budgets, supervising third-party costs throughout the year, and verifying supplier invoices.
Reviewing demand plans to understand regional supply chain needs, assessing logistics and warehousing networks, and seeing opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
Leading or supporting project initiatives that contribute to the warehousing and inbound logistics strategy.
Working with team members to ensure accurate preservation, maintenance, and care of materials throughout the physical supply chain.
Acting as Supplier Management Job Representative or Contract Accountable Manager (CAM) for relevant service contracts, ensuring supplier management activities follow bp procedures.
Supporting compliance requirements, including audit participation and completion of activities advised by the HRA Sponsor.
Reporting accidents and incidents in accordance with Materials Management and regional guidelines.
Establishing and tracking performance metrics for warehousing and inbound logistics.
Conducting regular site monitoring activities to verify alignment with standards and find opportunities for improvement.
What you will need to be successful
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or a related technical field.
Experience in Supply Chain Management or Logistics.
Solid understanding of warehousing operations and fundamental logistics activities.
Understanding of safety risks in warehousing and logistics, and experience ing appropriate risk mitigation measures.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across multiple fields, functions, geographies, and organisational levels—both within bp and across suppliers.
Solid understanding of systems such as SAP and other relevant software tools.
Desirable
Experience in Materials Management or warehousing across multiple industries.
Professional accreditation such as CPM, CIPS, APICS, or a specialised degree in Supply Chain.
